Privacy Policy – Catspace
Last Updated: October 31, 2026
Catspace (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Catspace mobile application collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with.
1.1 Photos You Provide
- Catspace asks for access to your camera so you can take a photo of your cat. You can also pick a photo with the system photo picker, which only shares the photo you choose.
- Photos are used to analyze your cat’s mood. A photo is also used to improve Catspace only if you choose to send it as feedback (see 1.5).
- Basic mode analyzes the photo entirely on your device. The photo is not sent to us unless you choose to send feedback about that result.
- Pro mode first checks on your device that the photo contains a cat. The photo is then sent over an encrypted connection to our servers, which send it to OpenAI to produce mood scores and a short description of your cat’s body language.
- Our servers do not store the photos you scan. They are processed in memory and discarded once the result is returned. The only photos we keep are ones you send as feedback.
- If you tap Save to Photos, the app asks for permission to add the result image to your photo library. It does not read your library.
1.2 Results Stored on Your Device
- Your scan history (photos, mood results, and notes) is stored only on your device and is not uploaded to us, except for a single result you choose to send as feedback. You can delete it by removing records in the app or by deleting the app.
- To keep daily scan limits accurate, the app stores the date and the number of scans used that day in your device’s Keychain. This contains no photos or personal details, and it may remain on the device after the app is deleted.
1.3 Subscription Data
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account, or payment details.
- For Pro scans, the app sends the signed transaction that Apple issued for your subscription. Our server verifies it with Apple and records the subscription’s original transaction ID, the date, and how many Pro analyses were used that day, so the daily Pro limit can be applied.
1.4 Server Logs
- When the app contacts our servers, standard request logs record your IP address, the time of the request, the address requested, and basic app and device information sent by your device.
- These logs are used for security, preventing abuse, and troubleshooting.
1.5 Feedback You Choose to Send
- On a scan result you can tap Not quite right? to tell us what your cat was actually feeling. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send.
- A feedback report contains the scan photo, the mood scores the app showed, the mood you picked (or that there was no cat), any note you write, and the app and model versions.
- A report does not include your name, Apple Account, subscription, or device identifiers, and it is not linked to you. To limit how many reports can be sent each day, your IP address is counted for a short time; it is not stored with the report.
- We use feedback reports to check and improve the accuracy of Catspace’s mood analysis, including training and testing our models. Reports are not sent to OpenAI or shared with anyone else.
- After you send a report, the app shows a reference code. Email us that code to have the report and its photo deleted.
Catspace does not include advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
We use the information above only to:
- Analyze your cat’s mood and show you the result.
- Verify your subscription and apply daily scan limits.
- Improve the accuracy of mood analysis using feedback you choose to send.
- Keep our servers secure and fix problems.
- Respond to your questions and requests.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We do not use your photos to train our models unless you send them to us as feedback.
3. Third-Party Services
- Apple – Processes purchases and issues the subscription information we verify.
- OpenAI – Processes photos sent in Pro mode to generate the analysis, under OpenAI’s API data policies.
- DigitalOcean – Hosts our servers.
4. Data Retention

- Feedback reports – Deleted automatically 12 months after they are sent, or sooner if you ask us with the reference code.

- Daily scan counts – Kept in your device’s Keychain.

5. Your Choices and Rights
- You can deny or revoke camera and photo access at any time in your device’s Settings.

- You can delete your scan history in the app.
- Sending feedback is optional. To have a report deleted, email us its reference code.
